Jennifer Thomas
Vice President

Jennifer Thomas is a Vice President at The Harbour Group, managing media outreach and communications campaigns for clients facing legislative or regulatory challenges and for clients with other crisis communications needs.

Ms. Thomas has extensive experience as a Washington print journalist. Most recently, she worked for four years in the Bloomberg News, where she covered transportation-related topics including aviation safety and security, major airline crash investigations, international aviation trade, airline and railroad mergers, and automotive safety issues. Major stories covered included the 1996 crash of Trans World Airlines Flight 800 and the subsequent accident probe, the investigation into the crash of ValuJet Flight 592, Teamsters Union strike against United Parcel Service of America and the Department of Justice investigation into allegations of predatory pricing by large U.S. airlines. Ms. Thomas led Bloomberg's coverage of U.S. government agencies' preparations for the Y2K date change, and her stories have appeared in major newspapers including The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Dallas Morning News and The Seattle Times. She also conducted live interviews with CEOs of airlines and government officials for broadcast on Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, Ms. Thomas was a staff writer in the Washington bureau of the St. Petersburg Times, covering the Florida congressional delegation and U.S. government agencies including the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Administration. Earlier, she worked at the Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report magazine as a researcher for the defense and foreign policy and economics and finance sections of the magazine.

While completing her master's degree in business administration, Ms. Thomas worked at Public Strategies Inc., a media strategy consulting firm based in Austin, Texas, where she was responsible for the development of a business strategy to guide the firm's expansion into overseas markets.

Ms. Thomas has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Dartmouth College. As part of her MBA program, she completed a three-month international management program at the Escuela de Administración de Negocios in Lima, Perú. She speaks fluent Spanish and basic Portuguese.
